Reading up on the previous VOIP threads and Nortel website info on the gateway hasn't answered these questions that I have - Please help.

1) If using a VOIP gateway, are some trunks dedicated to the gateway for outbound LD and other trunks dedicated to the system for inbound and outbound local? Or are the same trunks used for both?
2) Can the customer still receive calls and call out to anywhere (even if they are not using VOIP at the remote end that they are being called from or calling)?
3) Do the VOIP gateways networking 2 MICS together have the same features as a point-to-point PRI? Ex. paging, MWI
4) If using VOIP instead of PRI, is a NAM still required at the main location for CVM instead of CallPilot?

Maybe there is documentation out there that someone can send me with detailed user instructions?

1. The trunks are used only to interface to the gateway.
2. The gateway has nothing to do with normal in/out calling over PSTN lines.
3. No they just support basic dialing like tie lines. In fact, even though Nortel wont support it, you should be able to link any phone systems together as long as you have some analog trunk ports on them. This is not a Nortel made product, they just OEM it and other companies have put their name on it and used it for their voip gateays.
4. No CVM over gateway.

If you want CV and MCDN features over IP you can go with BCM

Thanks for the reply.
So the trunks that are dedicated to the gateway can go into their own line pool for certain outbound calls?
And the customer can call anywhere using the VOIP trunks (even if there is no VOIP gateway at the other end)?

I think you are not understanding the purpose of the voip gateway. It only allows calls between voip gateways - like tie lines. You could program some routing to allow toll bypass using the Norstars as yout PSTN interface.

Example: LA and NY office each have voip gateway. You could allow LA users to access NY dialtone to make calls.
