This has become quite a headache. I am trying to connect two in house IP Office units. The 401 Small office edition and the 403 (I don't have the model numbers but I could get if needs be, I don't believe they will be necessary.) Basically I want to call from one unit to the other over a LAN. I want to be able to use all similar series extentions (IP Office 401 [exts 501-520];IP Office 403 [exts 521-540)]. I have the configurations saved to show how everything is set up but I am using Manager 5.0 (40). But for those that rather not have it downloaded below are the configurations laid out en scenario form.

IP Office 401
IP ADD: 192.168.1.46
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway:192.168.1.1

IP Office 403
IP ADD:192.168.1.40
Subnet:255.255.255.0
Gateway:192.168.1.1
---------------------------------------------------
In manager 5.0(40) I have configured the following.
On IP Office 401 (Site A)
Lines:
Line:
*Line number:79
*Telephone Number:IP Office 403
*Outgoing group ID: 123

Short Code:
*Short Code: 1521
*Telephone Number: .
*Line Group ID:1
*Feature:Dial

VoIP:
*Gateway IP ADD:192.168.1.40
*Compression mode:G.711 ALAW 64K
**Voice Networking X

IP Route:
*IP ADD: 192.168.1.40
*Subnet:255.255.255.0
*Gateway:192.168.1.1
*Destination:LAN1
*Metric 1

On IP Office 403 (Site B)

Lines:
Line
*Line number:80
*Telephone Number:IP Office 401
*Outgoing group ID: 123

Short Code:
*Short Code: 1501
*Telephone Number: .
*Line Group ID:1
*Feature:Dial

VoIP:
*Gateway IP ADD:192.168.1.46
*Compression mode:G.711 ALAW 64K
**Voice Networking X

IP Route:
*IP ADD: 192.168.1.46
*Subnet:255.255.255.0
*Gateway:192.168.1.1
*Destination:LAN1
*Metric 1

------------------------------------------------------
All I get is a dead line. If I dial from extention 501 to extension 521 I get a busy signal but the phone line is clearly not busy (can pick up and dial any number just fine). What is wrong with the configuration, or what else is needed to make this work?

No IP Routes needed it this setup they are back to back if i'm right. It's better to choose for one of the 2 ipo's another extension range like 6xx

create a SC

Code; 5XX
Feature; Dial
Tel num; 5XX
Line gr ID; fill in the line number of your IP trunk which is pointed to the other IPO.

are your s/c's correct?

Short Code:
*Short Code: 1521
*Telephone Number: .
*Line Group ID:1
*Feature:Dial

Should be s/c 52X & 50X (on 403)
TN: 52N
LG: 123

You will also need ICR on LG123 to match digits

ICR 5XX
Dest 5N

Can't remember off hand if you need a license to do this link, someone else might answer that.

no license needed but vcm modules
why not just making it a SCN then you don't need any routing in or out?

Westi that is actually what I am looking to set up I believe (SCN). Ultimately I want to be able to run them over the internet from one external IP to another external IP, but for now I want to see how to run them over a LAN. If I get from IP to IP even better. I am just completely unfamiliar with the unit. I have read the manual and have a networking background but I am not a hardcore IT guy. If there is a better way to run the units let me know, I am all for learning what I can about this unit and the rest of the IP Office series.

Unit A
LAN1 IP Address 192.168.1.46/24
IP Line to Unit B:
Incoming/outgoing ID = 46
gateway IP address = 192.168.1.40
SC = 1521
TN = .
LineID = 46

Unit B
LAN1 IP Address 192.168.1.40/24
IP Line to Unit A:
Incoming/outgoing ID = 40
gateway IP address = 192.168.1.46
SC = 1501
TN = .
LineID = 40

Thats it

Voice Networking checkmark under the VoIp settings in the IP line make it a SCN connection, make sure this is checked on and use Intrigrants IP line settings then you should be good to go

Perfect!! That was exactly what I was looking to do with these units. Just another quick question. If I were to do this on two different LANs at two different sites over the internet would I then just use the IP routes as shown below?

So for example

IP Office 401
Cable Router external IP ADD: 222.222.222.222
IP ADD: 192.168.1.46
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway:192.168.1.2

IP Office 403
Cable Router external IP ADD: 111.111.111.111
IP ADD:192.168.1.40
Subnet:255.255.255.0
Gateway:192.168.1.1
________________________________________________________
On IP Office 401 (Site A)
Lines:
Line:
*Line number:46
*Telephone Number:To IP Office 403
*Outgoing/incoming group ID: 46

Short Code:
*Short Code: 521
*Telephone Number: .
*Line Group ID:40
*Feature:Dial

VoIP:
*Gateway IP ADD:192.168.1.40
*Compression mode:G.711 ALAW 64K
**Voice Networking X

IP Route:
*IP ADD: 111.111.111.111
*Subnet:255.255.255.0
*Gateway:192.168.1.1
*Destination:LAN1
*Metric 1

On IP Office 403 (Site B)
Lines:
Line:
*Line number:40
*Telephone Number:To IP Office 401
*Outgoing/incoming group ID: 40

Short Code:
*Short Code: 501
*Telephone Number: .
*Line Group ID:46
*Feature:Dial

VoIP:
*Gateway IP ADD:192.168.1.46
*Compression mode:G.711 ALAW 64K
**Voice Networking X

IP Route:
*IP ADD: 222.222.222.222
*Subnet:255.255.255.0
*Gateway:192.168.1.2
*Destination:LAN1
*Metric 1

Or am I just over simplifying a more complex situation?

Make sure you can ping from site A to site B and viceversa.

Site A;

Line;
Gateway IP address; IP address of IPO on Site B

IP Route:
*IP ADD: 0.0.0.0
*Subnet:0.0.0.0
*Gateway:192.168.1.1 (vpn/internet router)
*Destination:LAN1
*Metric 1

Site B;

Line;
Gateway IP address; IP address of IPO on Site A

IP Route:
*IP ADD: 0.0.0.0
*Subnet:0.0.0.0
*Gateway:192.168.1.2 (vpn/internet router)
*Destination:LAN1
*Metric 1

Change this and you're OK.
