One of our users is asking if our BCM450 6.0 system will support a 3rd party softphone for Outlook, called: Bria for Outlook (see It uses SIP - session initiated protocol. Is this even an option in our BCM environment?? I guess it speaks to how open is the BCM in this regard. I understand the BCM support UNIstim. Does it not also support other SIP clients/phones? Please advise.

Thanks,
VOJ

Ok. But we do have the softphone option from Nortel. Correct?
Do you see future releases of the BCM providing support for SIP phones or possiblity of a SIP gateway? Our users at present are looking specifically for Outlook integration. Ease of dialing directly from their contacts list...

I would not bet on future releases of the Bcm, since IPO 7.0 do support Nortel sets now, i think R&D will put most of their ressources on the IPO.

..from Nortel." Technically no. Anything you buy, you get from Avaya now. You can still buy the Avaya IP Softphone 2050 for the BCM.
