I HAVE CABLEVISION VOIP WITH A SINGLE R11 OR 13(NOT SURE WHICH) JACK FOR MY PHONE SERVICE. I HAD BEEN USING A HP 3100 PRINTER/SCANNER/COPIER TO FAX BI-DIRECTIONALLY ON MY OLD LAND LINE WITH VERIZON, WITH NO HITCHES.

WHEN I ATTEMPT TO FAX, USING THE VOIP EVEN DIRECTLY INTO THE SINGLE PHONE JACK, THE TRANSMISSION FAILS ON SEND/RECEIVE. CABLEVISION SUGGESTED A DSL FILTER, WHICH I TRIED, NG RESULTS AND OTHER SAY IT IS IN COMPATIBLE BECAUSE THE 3100 USES AN ANALOG SIGNAL.

IS THERE A SWITCH THAT COULD MAKE THE 3100 COMPATIBLE? OR DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS? IF I HAD TO BUY A NEW P/S/C WHAT SHOULD I LOOK FOR IN MATCHING SPECS?

THANX

Switch to Vonage. They support FAXing. It really comes down to the codec and how the router/ATA adapter is setup. This is truely a Cablevision issue with thier setup.

It is what it is!!

Ask Cablevision if they are T38 fax compatible.

Or go into the fax settings and try dropping the speed down -- force it to 9600 maybe?

On a side note, I was never so happy as the day I gleefully heaved my HP 3100 P.O.S. into the dumpster, never to be seen again. What an abortion of a printer that was...
