I have a MICS with a NAM voicemail. They want to change the main greeting on the voicemail, but I'm not sure where to start? How do I check if it's auto attendant or just a mailbox? And if it is auto attendant how do I change that greeting? Thanks.

starting out with the easiest to answer question first. if you call your main greeting and then try to dial an extension (221) you will know if that is an AA or a VM, an AA will allow you to dial another extension and transfer. a Voicemail will not.

Find out the answer to that and then let us know.

OK a quick explination of AA is in order here. when a line is answered by AA first a quick greeting (1-4) is played depending on the time of day then a set of instructions are played (normally the AA menu prompt but could also be a CCR tree) the greeting is used most of the time for "good morning you have reached..." or "good afternoon..." then the aa menu prompt is used for specific directions "if you know your parties..."

with that in mind
log into system using feature 9 8 3 and then look at the AA option.
press AA
press table
dial 01
if aa menu prompt is N then you may be using your own recording for prompt directions. press REC then PLAY to listen to what is recorded here.

press * to get back to "aa menu prompt"
press OK
here is the greeting that plays for morning, usually 1
press play to listen to this greeting
press next
here is the greeting that plays for afternoon. usually 2
press play to listen to this greeting
press next
here is the greeting that plays for evening usually 3
press play to listen to this greeting
press next
here is the greeting that plays for non-business usually 4
press play to listen to this greeting
press next
press next
here is what ccr tree is used if this is disabled then you are using the AA menu prompt discussed above if this is 1 or 2 then you have to change the ccr menu in another place. let us know if you need this.
press *
press grtg
press grtg
enter the greeting numberthat you want to change
press play to listen or rec to record a new greeting press OK to stop greeting and OK to accept the new greeting.

to change the aa menu prompt go back to the table that you are using and press REC then REC to change the aa menu prompt. Press OK to stop the recording and OK to accept the recording.

hang up.

if you are using CCR tree let us know for some different instructions.
