Start the VM Pro Server service with interaction to the desktop then it looks like the VM Lite and you can see VM trying to send a e-mail afte you cliced on "run".
You must select SMTP in the VM Pro client software in preferences and then adjust the settings in the Windows control panel.
On the first tab enter the full e-mail address used by VM pro, in the next you enter the SMTP server settings.
Beware of the password verification option, i had a installation were i first had to enable this with the name and password and after clicking on OK i had to turn this option off in order to get it going.

Hoi Cor,
Yes i did that and found out that with the upgrade it still used the mapi settings and in the program VM-Pro at Mapi i can,t tick the box SMTP
I removed VM-Pro and removed the map C:\Program Files\Avaya\IP Office\Voicemail Pro
Then did a new install of VM-Pro 2.1 (19) and Copied back the maps Greetings and Accounts.
Now it works again.
