Hi All.

I've been fighting with voicemail to e-mail, but don't seem to be getting anywhere.
Even after reading all of the threads I could find on the topic.

My system:
IP Office 500 v2 - running 10.1.52

Under the system -> voicemail tab:
Embedded voicemail; IP Office Mode

Under the System -> SMTP tab (for gmail)
IP Address : 74.125.228.22
Port: 587
e-mail from address: me@gmail.com
server requires authentication checked.

username: me@gmail.com
password: password

Under DNS tab
2 DNS servers selected; ip addresses supplied

Under the user:

voicemail e-mail: anotherme@gmail.com
voicemail e-mail: set to alert

=========

I call the extension from another phone on the system, go to voicemail and leave a message. I have verified that the voicemail is there.

I have confirmed that I can ping and even telnet to the mail server to verify connectivity.

Any ideas?

Regards

I don't think gmail uses port 587. That's gmx that uses 587. I've never used gmail so I can't say whether you will get it to work or not, but I would try either port 25 or 1025 with gmail.

Hi there.

I looked at the voicemail / e-mail in the FAQ's, however this appears to be for voicemail pro, not embedded voicemail as I have on my system.

I checked, and gmail does have a port as 587, so that might not be an issue. I can send e-mails from / to the e-mail accounts with no trouble.

So I am, at this time, a little confused. I will dig some more and advise.

Regards

Port 587 is for TLS and IP Office does not support that, only plain text port 25 email is supported.

I've had this problem with gmail SMTP connections before and had no joy as it uses a secure connection and the IP Office won't support that. I would find out the ISP's SMTP server address and use that, it won't require authentication or if it does it won't require a secure connection and will more than likely use good old port 25.

Im using stunnel application in conjunction with gmail smtp, it works fine, you need a separate cpu for this though.

Have you verified that the Voicemail Pro client is set to use SMTP instead of MAPI?

Administration > Preferences > General, click on the MAPI tab and make sure SMTP is highlighted instead of MAPI

@ssj4gogeta2003 : he has embedded voicemail, so settings in manager can only be done for SMTP

If you have access to an internal windows or linux server. Setup SMTP relay that forwards through SmartHost for devices like IP Office. SMTP is a built in service on the servers, and can easily be setup.

In Windows 7 install IIS 7 then setup Remote Admin Tools Then setup SMTP
This is easily placed on the Manager PC is you have a spare. You can use it to relay mail.

Thanks,
Jason
