Hello, I am trying to reset the voicemail password for the auto attendant but not sure how to do it. I do not have any experience working on the Merlin Magix system, but I am able to login to the system administration menu. I tried to login and go to option 2 (extension admin), next I enter the extension (ie: xxxx), is the voicemail reset option in this menu? Thanks…

Not sure what you want to reset. Can you clarify a bit?

Which Voice Mail do you have? Sounds like Merlin Messaging?

Do you need to reset a user's mailbox password, because they forgot what they set it to?

Did you lose the password for the System Administrator?

Repost, and I'm sure someone can help

It is a Merlin Messaging system.

When you call our main number, an automated attendant will answer and ask you to enter the extension number that you want to transfer to or press 0 for the operator. If someone calls the main number and doesn't choose an option, or if they call after hours, they will be transferred to a voicemail box somewhere, but no one knows what the extension/password number is to this mailbox.

Since we do not have a system administrator, I’ve been trying to figure this out myself. I have the system admin password so I can login to the system and navigate through the options. This is what I was able to figure out so far; the attendant is attendant # 1, (x6000), the zero option and timeout is somehow linked to the “general mailbox”, which is x7000. When I try to reinitialize the password on x6000 and x7000 the system says these extensions don’t exist as voicemail boxes. So I am not sure were the calls are going?

Sorry if this doesn’t make sense, I’m not familiar with this system. Thanks.

The General Mailbox for Auto Attendant 1 is 9991. (for AA#2, it is 9992, for AA3, 9993, and AA4 is 9994)

If calling Ext. 6000 is answered by Auto Attendant No. 1, then that is correct, there is no password to reset, as it is not a mailbox that has a greeting and takes messages, but rather is "pointed" to the Auto Attendant.

If you log into Voice Mail as the System Administrator (0# at the log in prompt), then press 9 for programming, 3 for auto attendants, 1 for auto attendant 1, then 1 for day or 2 for night, 6 to modify, then 0 for the Dial 0/Timeout option, you can set the calls to go to an extension, a mailbox, disconnect (how rude!), or go to the General Mailbox for that particular auto attendant.

You can reset the password for mailbox 9991, but it is likely that if no one knew that 9991 is the general mailbox, no one has ever logged into it and set the password. Try logging in, and pressing # at the password prompt. It it comes back and says the password is too short, it was never set and you get to set it right then and there.

Thanks Tommy, that fixed the problem. For some reason the generial mailbox was set to be x7000, which didn't have a voicemail account attached to it. I changed it to 9991 and reset the password. Thanks Again!!
