Anyone running VM Pro on a virtual server? I have a customer that wants to do this.

I read in another thread that it does work.

I would just make sure the customer understands it is not a supported way of doing it.

Never done it myself and would probably try my best to talk the customer out of it.

I would just make sure the server is capable and that resources are allocated properly.

Football is not a matter of life and death-It is far more important!!!!

I haven't had any problems with VM beacuse it's running on a virtual server. Have many customers that does this today.
As long as the specs are fine there should be no problem, but as always it's not be supported so Avaya could blame that to be the issue for any problems.

we too have multiple clients running vmpro on vmware servers with no problems.

I have never done this. What would be the benfit of doing this anyway?? Is is just down to space saving??

It makes sense from a backup standpoint as well as if the physical server crashes you can move it to another physical standyby vmware server very quickly. Its a shame AVAYA wont support it.

Got VM Pro and CCC running on virtual servers at a few sites. Not had any problems with any to date.

I compleatly agree with SuperJenks!!

I am using VM Pro on an ESX Server and it works like a dream!

Put the dongle on the PBX's serial port instead of the PC.

its definitaly worth the $30 to get a serial dongle for the back of unit... never have to worry about loading drivers and such when upgrading.

We have changed over to all serial dongles now. It is so much easier. I have had a bunch of issues with the USB and upgrades. The key server software gives us so much trouble. I have had to drive to sites before they opened after upgrading them remotely and the key not comming back

You're better of with a serial dongle or the new to IP500, but it's actually quite easy to get the USB online again, if you know where to go :p

Sorry, just had to...

The problem is in the Sentinel Driver so you have use the Sentinel software and add the USB dongle again.

If you have pre 4.x releases and 403s in the field, I have used a 25pin to 9pin adapter and used a serial key on the 403. Supposedly not supported by Avaya, but I have a few that I have had no problems with.

For those that have done it, what is the cost to switch from USB to serial dongle from Avaya?

You have to pay for the new dongle (of course) and the for the shipping to send the old dongle to Avaya or they'll charge you for the licenses on the new dongle.

And make sure it is there in 10 workdays !!!

Women and cats can do as they please and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea!

So what you are saying is when you get the new dongle get out there right away to replace it, and ship the old one back the same day from site requiring a shipping receipt.
