I received a request from one of my customers which I have not yet figured out how to do so I'm hoping to get some help. This customer has an IPO server edition v9.1 with voicemail pro. They would like to receive either an email or a text alert when a particular mailbox receives a message however they want it to show how many new messages are currently in that mailbox. The email/text part is easy, it's the number of messages that I'm having an issue with. Any help is appreciated.

Not that easy though, you would need to account for read/listened to messages after the initial email, it would need to email again once listened to. Over what time frame are you counting these messages? If you just leave it to email after each message is left as is default that just makes much more sense...unless they are incapable of remembering how many they have received and/or are too lazy to access them once notified :)

I believe this is for the dep't manager who will not be the person listening to the messages but wants to make sure someone else is picking them up. I have an "email" action setup in the "leave" of the mailbox which works and there is a "content" section within the action. Is there a formula or system variable that I might be able to use that would include the number of new messages in the email?

You can do it like this (but it's far from perfect):

Make a User Variable "MSGs"
After the Recording box, make a Generic, free format: STRING:$COUNTER1=copy($REG[MSGs])
Then make a Generic, Increment: Counter 1
And finally: Set User Variable, MSGs with Counter 1

Pull the value of "MSGs" for every new email sent.

Then make a reset function for "MSGs" every time a user enters the VM Collect.

(Or you can give the manager a login to VMPro, let him stare at the User list 24/7)

Kind regards

I knew Gunnar would have a VM Pro solution for this, he is the man with VM Pro!
