I just need to clarify something regarding ports for voicemail

1: Mxe has 30 Ports ?
2: Cx & Cxi have 4 ports standard
- adding a T1E1 card - adds 12 Ports of voicemail ?

- Is there any other card that adds to the voicemail port count ?
- is this documented in any of the manuals , I've checked the technicians manual and the Gig Guide and the engineering guidelines , but I think I have alzeimers as i cant find a reference to the T1 E1 providing extra voicemail ports .
I know it does but dont know how i found out ?

You need to be looking at your DSP resources.

In the THB (PG 344-352 in mine) it explains.

An MXe comes with 8 DSP resources and can support 30 vm ports but you also need to consider traffic, compression, TDM devices and Fax(T.38).

A CX can be expanded to 16 vm ports by adding DSP's. I would not consider the DSP's that come with the T1/E1 card to be suitable for this purpose. You still need to be considering traffic, compression, TDM devices and Fax(T.38).

Occam's Razor - All things being equal, the simplest solution is the right one.

Only the 21161 based cards will affect the voicemail provisioning, the old 20161 and the new C55 based will not.

In the case of the CX, the T1/E1 combo card is sufficient strictly speaking. In other words if you are adding it for T1, you will get the added voicemail ports, but if you are adding it for T1 and compression, then no it won't be sufficient. There are Engineering Guidelines documented for the CX stating which modules combinations are supported and what traffic they will provide.

Thanks I finally found the table I was looking for in the manual.
