I have Voicemail turned off on a user in IP Office 4.1(9). The user is on two huntgroups that do have separate voicemail that gets recorded to their own account folders. Yet somehow this user still ends up getting voicemail recorded under his ext. from time to time. (And can't get to it since no password is set!)

I've tried removing the Account\<username> folder entirely and also just the contents within it. But it gets created again and a new voicemail drops in.

I have SysMonitor on now and am trying to capture a time when it happens so I see how it gets sent there.

Any ideas?

its cause the user is having calls transfered to his voicemail using PMP or soft console, if it is VM Pro you can take the users leave start point and transfer this to the hunt group,so even if calls are transfered to the users vm box the callee is forwarded out of the voicemail

So, just want to make sure I have it right, as I don't have this user added as a "User" in VM Pro. But sounds like I'd create an entry for him then, add a Leave start point, and setup a Goto and the node would be the Huntgroup ext.?

Just trying to make sure that doesn't create some vicious loop where it never hits the huntgroup voicemail or something...

Are you sure it is on his extension or is it only the light that is burning ?

Program him a visual voice button
Then you can see if it is his mailbox or the huntgroup he is member off

Yes, I am sure it is his ext. because that is where I find the voicemail msgs. on the server. Under C:\Program Files\Avaya\IP Office\Voicemail Pro\VM\Accounts\<username>

When I removed the .wav files under that folder, the red light on his phone goes away.

We have had this arrise a few times on a site with no Soft Console or Phone Manager running, I have yet to work out why. Did it on 4 and 4.1 software, needless to say it really winds the customer up!!

Do you use visual voice ?
With visual voice it is easy to send a voicemail message to an extension or forward it to an extension

Messages can also be left in any user's acoount even if VM is off for that user by using a Direct VM transfer..

may be obvious but who are the messages from, ie. what do the message headers say.

Anyway, Voicemail Off changes how IP Office routes calls, ie. it no longer use voicemail as an option to answer calls. But messages can still get in their mailbox as the result of messages being forwarded, call recording, group broadcast, custom VM call flows, etc.

There is no obvious bug here apart from the mystery of who and where the messages are from which, as said, the headers might reveal some clues.

On my problem system, they are not using visual voice no modules programmed just basic VM accounts used, the calls are from customers "outside", we are talking once every couple of months it happens sometimes more. It would be handy however if voicemail off meant off not just call routing to VM off.

It could also be a call being recorded by the enduser using Phonemanager or shortcode. By default these recordings end up in the users own voicemail. Listen to one of the new messages if it has 2-way speech it is a recorded conversation not a new voicemailmessage.
