I have a customer that wants to setup the following. They run a 24/7 Heating/Cooling service. If a call comes in after 5pm it will go to voice mail. Once the caller leaves a message. IPO needs to call and email the service tech that is "on call" that specific week. I am open to suggestions on the best way to accomplish this. Thanks in advance.

What voicemail do you have?

If its Voicemail Pro, then you need to look at the options that already exist for Callback and Outcalling in the application help. Outcalling is the most flexible.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

I have setup this at our office for the 24 Hrs service.

Callers can leave a message, then an email is send to the engineer on duty, end the system will call him untill he deletes the message.

My colleague sets the engineer that is on duty usung call variable.

The vm box make an outcalling to a virtual user that is forwarded to a startpoint in the vm pro, that checks the variable so the engineer on duty is called.

I have a nice call flow for that, it is build for several departments, each department has a number of "on duty" members.
Each employee can activate their shift, they cannot deactivate it because there must always be someone "on duty".
We use a SMS server, we send a mail to the SMS service and that service sends a SMS with the number of the customer to call. More reliable as just a mail to the employee.

I will post it later because it needs some explanation and I have to change personal information like mobile numbers etc.

Thanks for the all the info. I am currently using the embedded voice mail in IPO.

It would be great if you guys could post some of the configs, or instructions.

Thanks

Like Okkie26 said embedded can't do it because you cannot enter any information that is needed to make this work.
With VmPro you can play and make things work that other systems can't because it is flexible and has so many options that you probably will never use them all. I am probably not even a third through all the stuff in there.

I assumed VM Pro as well, with embedded the options are very limited.
Forget the email, not possible with embedded.
I would create a user for each "on duty" employee and program mobile twinning with a time profile ( twinning of inside business hours ).
Then add them all into a sequential group and use this group as the target for Out Of Hours calls.
Then each employee can enable or disable huntgroup membership at will, all not "on duty" disable the membership and the poor on "on duty" enables it.
If they have system phones then program a button for the group membership, it wil lit when enabled.

Ok, thanks guys. I haven't had a need to install voicemail pro. I understand it needs to be installed on a server or over. That isn't a problem. What's a ball park figure on license/software cost of voicemail pro.

Thanks

you can run VmPro on windows XP or better so no server or server OS needed if you don't want to use one-x portal. You can also install the AppServer as that works wonderfully and leave that running, then you don't need a Windows license at all.
The pricing for the license you need to find your supplier or BP to tell you because it is different depending on the part of the world you are in.

Thanks for the info. I am going to look into getting VM Pro that was I can use some of the ideas you guys posted. Stay tuned.

intrigrant, I have VM Pro installed now. Can you send me the config you have used.

Thanks

It is not about the config as it is different for each solution.
Outcalling works from a users mailbox.
So create a callflow where you can select the right user.
Then go to the user (in VMPro) and there you can create the callback per user.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

intrigrant, I'm interested in that call flow. We have a customer (a Police dept) who wants to have an alert sent to the on-call officer when a particular mailbox receives a new message. They are asking if possible through means other than email to the office (like a text message). The problem I see is the on-call will probably vary 2-3 times a day, or at least daily.

I trust you put in an e-mail copy for your self on that one [smile]

Kind regards

intrigrant, could you post the call flow that you mentioned? I have VM Pro installed now. Just trying to work out the details.

Thanks

clindsay1 hopefully you also have the appropriate licensing for VmPro otherwise it will not work or better it will only work for 2 hours and then go down.
A callflow like that has probably taken a few hours of building and testing so if intrigrant will post it then please make sure that he gets plenty of stars from whoever downloads it.
