I have a norstar plus modular ICS unit and have it hooked up to a norstar voicemail 4.0 box. I have had the system setup for a little more than a month now and it works- but still has one weird quirk.
Our company has a virtual number and two physical external lines from our provider. Our current setup is as follows: the virtual number points to our first external line, and that line is forwarding calls to our second external line. So currently when someone calls our virtual number, they hear my CCR voice prompt. If someone else tries to call the virtual number while that line is busy, they get a busy signal even though there is one free external line. This makes sense, since we have line 1 designed to forward calls to line 2.
I know that the provider can take away call forwarding and have calls roll from line 1 to line 2, but when I had my provider do that it turned into a nightmare. At that point, callers would hear a busy signal every time they called the virtual number, even if no lines were in use. The only way you could get to the voice prompt was to directly call our 2nd external line. I was able to get this corrected by using the call forwarding feature, even though it doesn't make much sense to leave that in place for the long run.
So presently we can call out on both external lines, but people can only call in on one. My provider told me that they think the issue is with line 1 and that something is wrong on the PBX or voicemail. I looked through the voicemail manual and confirmed that I have voicemail set up to answer both lines, but it doesn't appear to be doing so. Could somoething else be wrong with line 1? I know the line is physically active since we can call out on it. Does anyone have any ideas on what I could try to resolve this? Any suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated!
