Hi

IPO 8.1 on 500v2 with seperate vm server.

On occasion my customer users have reported voicemails not playing or message is getting cut off before the end.

When I look at the users wavs in the voicemail server logs, I can seen the wavs, some have 0 lenght even if message was left.

I have debug setup on the vm server and the only thing I don't understand on it is the following lines.

15/06 14:01:04.947 vmprov5s (17,8) 560, 668: > WAVNode::WAVNode(072C2F90 - file<C:\Program Files (x86)\Avaya\IP Office\Voicemail Pro\VM\Accounts\ShirleyWalsh\c59211315b004a5886b5d51ccce55202.WAV>, silence(start=0, end=2))

I'm not sure what " Normalized wav file" is or what it is doing to the wav file.

Anyone any hints, I've search the forums and search Avaya site but can't find any explanation.

try removing her voice mail account and then stop and restart voice mail pro service, this will then recreate the account, maybe this will fix it, also an upgrade is also an option.

Maybe you could disable the value of the register key "RemoveSilenceOnHangup" to N as maybe ther is a long silence in the recording considered as the call has disconnected. I don't know if it is related but it is worth trying I guess.
There is also a key setting the normalization value but I don't know what the impact is when changing this value.

on 64 Bit pc:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Avaya\Media Services\Directories > RemoveSilenceOnHangup default value = Y

I don't have a 32 bit machine so do a search for the key "RemoveSilenceOnHangup

We had this problem at a site. It drove us crazy for a long time. I believe it had something to do with a bug in conjunction with Contact Recorder.

Are you using Contact Recorder and are you fully patched?

dealt withone similar to this on R8.1 and I found that a lot of times when I found a recording that had been cut short a touch tone was received.

It plays the greeting, starts recording, hears a touch tone and stops the recording then after a while saves the recording.

I told the customer that there is no cure for people on smartphones touching the buttons with their cheeks and all the recordings that I had were from cell phones
