Hello,

In a 5x9 Avaya Partner R8 is there a way to make all phones turn the message light for the same voicemail box? We want to install an Avaya partner in a small clinic. They only need one voicemail box but want to make sure all the phones in the clinic turn the message lamp on when someone leave a message in that specific voicemail box. Is it possible? I know how to do that in CM but not idea in Avaya Partner.

Thanks in advance!

You can use "Message Alert Notification". The information below was taken from the R8 manual - it explains how it works and how to program it. It works great.

Message Alert Notification
Use this feature to program a button on your PARTNER telephone to see the status of another extension’s message light. To use this feature, you must have an intercom Auto Dial button button programmed for the extension you want to monitor. When Message Alert Notification is “on,” you will see the status of the message light for every intercom Auto Dial button programmed on your telephone.

Considerations

Message Alert Notification
• Must be programmed on a button with lights on a system phone.
• Can be turned on and off at any time, even during a call.
• Must be used with the intercom Auto Dial feature.

When Message Alert Notification is “on,” the intercom Auto Dial buttons and Manual Signaling buttons display the status of the message light at the corresponding extensions. A blinking red light indicates that the message light is lit and the extension is idle.

After system restarts, there may be a slight delay in updating the status of the message light at the other extension(s). There may also be a momentary delay in turning off the message light when all the new messages are reviewed in the extension’s voice mailbox.

Message Alert Notification also works with the PARTNER-CA48 Intercom Auto-dialer.

Programming
To program a Message Alert Notification button:
1. Press Feature 00.
2. Press a programmable button with lights.
3. Press Feature 27.
4. Program another button for this extension, or exit programming mode.

Using Message Alert Notification
From a system telephone, press the programmed button to turn Message Alert Notification on. Press it again to turn it off. Use the button like a switch—when the light is on, Message Alert Notification is on.

Sysconsultant, Thanks so much for the response. At this point we are still evaluating the Avaya Partner solution so I want to make sure we have all bases covered. Have you use it with one voicemail box and multiple phone sets turning the light one? that is the scenario we would be having... calls go to one voicemail and 5 or more phone sets would turn the light on in a button to indicate thre's a new voicemail in that unique vm box.

Thanks again for all of your help..

You are so welcome. Yes, I have programmed and used this feature for the scenario you want. You can have it on 5 phones or every phone. What you do is program two buttons on the phones you want to be alerted. The two buttons are:
1. A Message Alert Notification [MAN] button
2. An auto-dial button for the extension with the mailbox

To activate the feature:
Press the [MAN] button - the button's LED will light up, so you know it is on. In your case, you would always have it on.

When a message is left in the one mailbox:
Every phone's auto-dial button LED flashes. (It flashes on all phones simultaneously.)

You can listen to the message from any phone by pressing the voice mail button, entering the mailbox's extension number and password. After the message is listened to, the LED button will stop flashing on all phones until another message comes in.

It is a wonderful feature. I appreciate the thank you's very much. You can thank anyone who helps you by giving them a star. We love the stars! :)

sysconsultant,

Yeah, I gave you starts... Thank so much for the help. It is for sure an excellent feature. So, the MAN button then the autodial... so in my case would be autodial to extension 10... so when they press autodial it will ring until go to voicemail or will go directly to voicemail box?, I don't have the Avaya Partner yet so can't play with it... sorry to bother with questions!

Thanks again!

sysconsultant

One more question. What would be the programming to have all phones to ring at same time... then if no answer then go to one voicemail box? The voicemail box would be for X 10. I will have 5 phone sets and only X10 with vm. But we want all phones ring at same time (5 lines for trunk)

Thanks again!

First question: if you press the auto dial button, it will ring the station. If no one answers, voice mail will answer and a message can be left - called "Auto Dialing" in the manual.

Second question: all lines on each phone would be set to Immediate Ring. Ext 10 would be set as the covering extension, so unanswered calls will be answered by Ext 10's mailbox - called "Line Ringing" and "Line Coverage Extension" #208 in the manual. You will need to assign a mailbox to Ext 10 - called "Automatic VMS Cover" #310 and set the number of rings before voice mail answers "VMS Cover Rings" #321.

Here is the link to download the Partner R8 manual:

Thank you for the star!!

sysconsultant, Thanks again for responding to my question. I really appreciate it. So, in every phone I will need to configure an autodial button to retrieve any message left in vm for X10... so a button dialing 777 in every phone so users can retrieve any message left for X10 from any phone. right?

Thanks again! sorry to bother.

You are not a bother - I enjoy helping.
Yes, you need to have three buttons on each phone:
1. Voice Mail
2. MAN
3. Auto-dial for X10

Don't purchase the smallest phone (6D); get 18D phones. You need buttons for lines, these features, and other features you may want. The 6D won't give you enough buttons.

sysconsultant, thanks so much for the help. I will order the new Avaya Partner system and will let you know if I need help with this feature.

Thanks again!
