when using the wizard we didn't setup the voicemail on a 3300 MXe (MCD) This was because of how we were deploying the licenses between sites.

I'm going through the help and following the forms, but when I dial the VM Hunt Group DN, I get out of service. (In this case 6000) The COS on the VM ports (20 in total) has all the correct options as per the help, and now I'm a little stuck as I always use the wizard and this has made me lazy and unable to fault find.

Did you just program the 20 vm ports? If so, then try a reboot of the system.

If you did not take enough time to get it right the first time...

What makes you think that you have time to fix it?

Also try dialing each VM port DN individually to see if they answer.

Dialling the VM ports gives me the out of service tone, this would explain why the VM HuntGroup give out of service if it has no available DN's to process the call.

REBOOT........I'll have to try this out of hours. Thanks for the suggestions

use putty or a secure telnet tool and login to the 3300 IP using RAW, port 2002

login using normal username and password

you will be prompted with a ->

to restart voicemail without rebooting the system enter

iPVM_Stop

iPVM_Start

may not work but worth a try if you have access

Are there any alarms on the system?

A start for Paterson for suggesting the reboot, but James if I could give you two stars I would. That worked a treat without a reboot. That command line is a definate keeper.

Cheers.

A word of caution on the manual starting of voicemail. The reason that it's recommended to reboot the system is that voicemail needs dsp resources, so when it initially starts, it grabs what it needs before anyone else can. The dsp resources are set up to account for this. If you do this on a live system, the predetermined nature of the voicemail ports goes out the window.

What does that mean? Maybe not much if you're on a very lightly loaded system, but you have most likely reduced the overall dsp capability of your system.

It will most likely work in the short term, but you'd be wise to schedule a reboot when feasible.
