I have the dial 0 action set to transfer to the call answer service operator (extension 10). when you hit 0, the call transfers to the operator and goes directly back to the automated attendant main menu without ringing at the operator's station at all. How do I fix this?

Check the setting for call service operator

After logging into system admin press 1 for system parameters and 5 for call answer service operator.

take the operator out of the group coverage for voice mail

When I take the operator extension out of the coverage group, the auto attendant doesn't pick up incoming calls

i see in another post , that you say your 70 pool is being answer by your calling group 770, if you take out your operator out of being a senders to stop the loop around, your calling group should answer if your 70 pool show up as a line & pool member, , if you want it to ring on the console go into the attendant, progam, 0/time out listen for option 3 for an extension change that to your operator's station number

When I take the operator's extension out of the senders group, The auto attendant doesn't pick up an incoming call

Then you have it programmed wrong, you do not have your lines being pick up by the calling group

Actually I just tested that. I had pool 70 programmed in and I took it out and the automated attendant still picked up. But of course I still have a problem. I was figuring that in order to get it to work properly is to program in the individual lines, but it wont let me do that for some reason.

None of the lines are assigned to any other group. The only thing I can think is that it has something to do with being Tie Lines or maybe I have to disconnect the lines coming into the system before assigning them. To me it doesn't make much sense to assign the pool anyway because that is more for choosing a line to dial out on.

put the pool back in the calling group ,when you take then out it's being picked up because your operator is in coverage

I've gone through this before, for some reason I have to take all of the lines out of the pool, assign the pool, and then put all of the lines back in the pool. I don't understand why that is either.

Also wouldn't it make sense to say that if I take the operators extension out of the senders group, and the automated attendant isn't picking up, and pool 70 is assigned, that assigning the pool doesn't make a difference.

You can't assign individual lines if they are in a pool, you assign the entire pool instead. For lines that are NOT in a pool, you can assign them individually.

The default "Call Answer Service Operator" is 768, which is actually an invalid number. So calls transferred to that number end up ringing to the Operator extension, and NOT covering to voice mail. OR, you can change the CASO to the Operator's extension number, then calls to 0 will ring there and cover to the Operator's personal mailbox.
