VoiceMail Delivered Late!!!

Greetings to all. I have a customer whose V2.0 Merlin Messaging is taking messages on Friday during business hours and delivering on Monday; even after the users have checked messages on Friday.

Anybody see this?

Two things could be happening. The Merlin Messaging uses the last voicemail port to light the message waiting light. If that port is bad or having issues this will delay notification. Test each voicemail port to see if they are working properly. The second thing is that the hard drive might be failing on the unit. This is an old unit and its hard drive has probably been running non-stop for 15 years.

I must disagree....

Here's what we (Avaya Tech Support Engineers) always thought/found was happening:

Caller is listening to a STRING of Voice Mails, and hits POUND to skip one, BUT, they hit POUND TWICE, skipping 2.

Later, when listening the next day, or whenever, they hear the message they accidentally skipped over.

It wasn't delivered late, it was just listened to late.

Betcha' that's the deal.



 
inadequate Touch Tone Receivers (TTR's) or a faulty one. Error logs should point out if you don't have enough.
