I have a norstar voicemail 4.0 system setup in my office. I currently have it programmed so that callers can dial in and navigate through menus to get to the department and extension they want. While the menu is playing, I know it is possible for callers to dial their party's extension number to skip through the menus. I was wondering however, if it is possible for callers to use the company directory to enter in the last name of the person they want to speak to. For example, if you want to talk to John Smith, could you enter the numbers that correspond to the letters of his last name?

I have seen the section in the manual that explains the company directory and how to add and remove mailboxes from it, but i'm not sure if I'm able to give outside callers the ability to search this directory. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

typically press # for the dial by name directory, very simple.

try calling your auto attendant and hit # sign.

You'll have to make sure each mailbox has a name and that there is a Y for directory.

Yes, I tried calling and pressing # and I was able to lookup employees by last name. Thank you very much for your help!
