IP office 500V2 embedded voicemail. I have a group created for a department and need to record a greeting for the group voicemail. I have added the group to the source of the user but want to create a short code to be able to record the greeting. Let's use *76 as the example, how do I program the short code?

telephone number would be ?<groupname>

Telephone number ? will ask for extension and password. ?"groupname" or ?"extension" will log you in automatically. Depends on how you want it setup but either would work.

So then pressing *76 will take me right to the group voicemail and prompts will play to record greeting? is that correct?

@ critchey, so I don't need a passcode for this group unless they want it password protected correct? That will be so much easier!

by default with no password set only users of the group will be able to access the mailbox

anyone else will get "Remote access is not configured on this mailbox"

If you use the ? shortcode you would need to have a voicemail code set even if you have the sourcecode set for the group (I believe). If you have the sourcecode set for the group (ie if group is extension 200: V200 in source codes) and you then use ?"200" (again in my example it is group 200) then you would automatically be logged into that group without a voicemail code.

*76
Voicemail collect
?"200" (or group name, and if group is extension 200)
group id 0

Add V200 to users that want to access it source codes should do what you want (again if the group was extension 200, adjust for real extension).

perfect! Thank you all for replies! Appreciate the help! I will try this today and report my success or failure.

mine worked great the way I posted it, also I did have a password configured as well and it was in IP Office mode as well

joe2938, so you're telling me, with the shortcode:

Code - *78
Feature - VM Collect
Tel number - ? or "?"

You go straight to group 200s VM (or whatever group of which you're a member)?

No way, that's bollocks :)

I'm telling you it works great, embedded voicemail checking a group mailbox and it does prompt me for the extension and password, just recently did this install and it's on 9.1.7, believe it or not but it does work!

That's not what he wanted though, he wanted a code to go to a specific group, that code you quoted is just an anonymous code, it's always worked :)

just as an fyi, I just got off the phone with my customer using the short code that I posted and it does prompt for the mailbox number so yes it does work

ok so my way you would just have to enter the extension of his group, sorry misunderstood his question but still would have worked after entering the group extension

So....you were all very helpful and this now works. I have been doing this in a much harder way so I am very happy to know how this works and your input is very much appreciated. For anyone who reads this the telephone number needs to be input as ?groupname. The quotations will appear after you hit enter and where the "'s are make a difference. In my case I have a passcode on both groups that I set this up for so I can access this from any phone and then enter the passcode. Good luck to you all and thanks again.
