Voicemail box on a non equipped dn

Customer wants one of there DID's to go to a mailbox without a physical phone attached. Example DID 5000 to go to mailbox 5000. So when drivers call in at night with their truck times, they can leave it on this mailbox of 5000.

The ksu is 6.1 with pri
voicemail is callpilot 100.

I have created the mail 5000 to ext 5000. target line 0f 160 to ring only only ext 5000. forward no answer of 2 to voicemail dn.

Voicemail will only pick up if a phone is connected to the corrisponding port. Ounce phone is unplugged just rings and rings. I have also set "message line" as line 160. still nothing. Mailbox has been built as a standerd subscribers mailbox.

Any thoughts

Did you set the VM DN as the prime set for the express message setup?

If you cant get that to work, do a search for phantom DN, and look for stuff like this from Luv2ski, JerryReeve, Mroberts....

THIS WILL WORK BUT THE INCOMING DIGITS MUST MATCH THE MAILBOX DIGITS, ANOTHER WORDS IF YOU HAVE 4 DIGITS INCOMING YOUR MAILBOX HAS TO BE 4 DIGITS.
Line Programming:
1. Build a Target line, example: 145
2. Enter customer received digits, example: 4598
3. Prime Set: None
Hunt Group Programming:
4. Select a Hunt Group number (1-30)
5. Accept the default Hunt Group Extension that is associated with the Hunt Group
number or make a new one.
6. Add a Member DN to be that of the NAM Voicemail DN.
7. Under Line Assignment, assign the Target Line to the Hunt Group.
8. Shorten the Time Out Que to be the lowest, 15 seconds (default = 60)
9. Make the Overflow extension to be the NAM Voicemail DN.
Mailbox Programming:
10. ADD a guest mailbox
11. Make the Extension of the mailbox to be the Hunt Group Extension
 
bkrike I found out that you don't have to use Hunt Groups. As you said make a mailbox for the rec digits and have the voice mail DN set up to answer that target line.
