Can anyone tell me how single digit mailboxes work or the benefits of using them ?

Single digit mailboxes are typically used to transfer calls to departments

Press 1 for this, 2 for that, etc.

They are accessible from the main AA so the caller retains the ability for Dial by name and Dial an extension which are not available if you use a menu node.

Limitations
You can only have 1 of each regardless of how the ports are allocated (will not work for 2 companies transfering differently)

Single digit MB's that conflict with Multi-digit mailboxes still function but only after a conflict timer expires (3 seconds)

Thanks for the response kwb. So if I do not use a menu node, what type of mailbox should I use for the main options menu ? Do I make the single digit mailbox transfer mailboxes eg mailbox 1 and assign answer point ?

blackberry you would use a transfer only mailbox and assign the extension, hg, path etc as the destination.

menu node type mailbox is only if your single digit option refers to a sub menu that also has a message with options in it.

Yes, use transfer only type.

Mitelpassion - Menu nodes can have choices that transfer to Extensions with mailboxes.
