Hi All,

We are connecting a 3rd party unified messaging voicemail system through analog ports to our SX-2000. The problem is we get no integration, the Mitel is not sending out the digits. We have an accurate config note and are following it exactly configuring the COS for the voice mail ports as COV/ONS/E&M voice mail ports.

I am almost certain it is nothing on the voicemail side because if I put a single line phone on one of the analog vm ports I don't hear the digits coming accross the line first.

My best guess is there is a system setting somewhere on the Mitel that is overriding the ability for digits to be sent.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Did you set the voicemail hunt group as "Voicemail"? It seems you have already checked the proper COS options.

You say Unified Messaging - are you using a MiTAI? How are you going to get the CallerID out of the switch on analog ports?

Unified" is considered the marriage of email/voicemail (at least in the Mitel world it is). Our "Unified" solution lets you check your voicemail within your email client, or with the right options, have your email read to you via your voicemail. No need for caller id for any of that.

Thanks for your posts.

It is an Avaya Modular Messaging system. The fact that it is unified has nothing to do with the integration problem we are having. Like with any voicemail that uses analog (inband) integration the call data comes along the same 2-wire circuit as the actual call in the form of dtmf tones. The only data I need is the called party id (extension number) so that when an extension covers to voicemail on a busy or rna condition the voicemail system knows which mailbox to send the caller to.

We have the exact same voicemail setup on Mitels at other locations and it works fine. I think there is a setting on the Mitel we are missing that is preventing the pulsing out of dtmf. We do have the trunk group setup as type voicemail. Unfortunately I am not trained on the Mitel. We have a Mitel vendor showing up tomorrow that hopefully can help.

Thanks.

No, I understand what Unified Messaging (U/M) is. I have never seem a company want U/M without CallerID. I guess I have been spoiled. I just assume if I get a e-mail/fax/v-mail or any form of communication within Outlook, I can look at my single INBOX and see who it's from without opening it. Allows the users to prioritize their INBOX.

AVAYA has done their home work with their U/M and plain V/M systems, probably the best on the market. I have to give "kootos" (sp?) to Mitel for the 6500 Speak@Ease. A wonderful device. There is one other company we install on the Mitel, and that's 1CTI. They do a good job on a U/M with a Mitel. You get CallerID and everything.

Thanks
Neil

Again, you don't need MitAi for CallerID. Use a DNIC integrated system, caller id will be provided (if purchased on the switch). Heck, use Digital E&M, or ONS/CLASS, just not plain old ONS, it has no caller id capabilities. But again, MiTAi is not needed for it. This is getting a little off topic, isn't it.
