I'm trying to create a translation rule that will block all calls on an Voice-Port except calls from a certain string.
We are getting lots of telemarketer calls on this number and we want to block all numbers except the block of numbers that we own.

Lets say our block of DID numbers that we want to permit are (111)-222-7xxx

Ive tried lots of ways but cant nail it.

much help appreciated.

Are you running H.323?

Please post what you have so far. Im assunimg your inserting your translation to the inbound dial-peer and that you have (direct-inward-dial) also on the Dial-peer.

I'm pretty sure ive applied it ok, im just stuck on the rule(s) specifically allowing calls from our block and denying everything else.

I've also applied it at the dial-peer and the voice-port and put a plar statement to forward to call to an extension.

voice translation-rule 1
rule 1 /1112227.../ /111227.../
rule 2 reject //

This config is for outbound calls translations.

The best thing I have seen so far is to reject specific numbers (that would be the Telemarketers). Other than that is would look like alot if rules in the translation to make this work.

Also put your lines on the national do not call list. This should eliminate most of the calls.

Go to Cisco and search (cisco command line translation reject). Look at the calling numbers. I hope this puts you in the right direction.
