One thing I have never been clear on is why to use voice prompt editor to play greetings? What is the advantage of using it over Give IVR or am I missing picture altogether. I have an SCCS 4.0 and a new 5.0 at another site. The 5.0 doesn't have VPE from what I can see. Has it been eliminated?

Well first off, VPE (Voice Prompt Editor) will not show up on your 5.0 system if the voice connection type of TCP was selected in the server setup and configuration. The recordings will be done thru Callpilot.

As for Give IVR vs. access treatment. Access treatment ( Open voice seesion or Broadcast announcement) the SCCS will keep control of the call. This will provide you the ablity to collect digits with open voice session and the broadcast feature allows up to 50 callers to one voice port or annoncement. Both access treatments require SCCS package 200.

VPE allows you to record the announcements in a Meridian Mail mailbox. The SCCS system logs into this mailbox to play the announcements. VPE is not required when using Callpilot for voice treatment.

Hope this helps!
