Does anyone know of a VoIP provider that has free US to US calling and supports PC-free hardware devices?
Sincerely,

Let me clarify. I don't mean point-to-point calling, I mean VoIP-to-phone calling -- an Internet Telephony Service Provider.

All ITSPs I've found which support independent hardware devices have $.05/min US to US calling. The only free ones are web-based services. However, it seems reasonable to me that, since it only involves local calls and all long distance is done over the internet, that they should more than make up for local fees by charging for international calls but providing free domestic calls. If you know of an ITSP that does this, please tell me. There are Public Switched Telephony Providers that are competitive with $.05/min domestic long distance rates, so it's not much of an incentive. Plus, I'd like to be able to make local (completely toll-free) calls this way, and eliminate the PSTNs, so the long distance rate doesn't help here at all.

Yahoo messenger is able to make calls from the internet to Land lines, I know this works from the UK to the US as a friend of mine regularly calls his Dad in Atlanta.

Thanks, but I'm looking for PC-free hardware support... actual phone units, not attached to a PC. I've found plenty of hardware suppliers, and I've found plenty of free ITSPs, but none of which talk with each other.

Try Pingtel they have a java based phone that runs off of a Voip provider like a central office.

Thanks for the suggestion, but their phone is $650 and they don't have any service providers.
