I'm proposing a Nortel MICS with latest software to a client of mine. He's a MIS guy & would like to be sure that he has Voice over IP capability(portable extensions for multi-locations)in the future with the Norstar.

My question - Is MICS compatible now & will it be in the future for VOIP applications? Or should I quote a BCM KSU?
I've never installed a BCM before. Thanks for your input.

VoIP is severely limited by Norstar.
BCM is a far superior product in many respects.
BCM 3.6 looks to be a real up and comer.

what about the NORSTAR VoIP Gateway? Has anyone used it and if so what do you think?

norstar voip gateway can be considerd as voip modem, in the sense that they work in pairs ...

norstar >ls/ds>voipgateway ::: IP :::: voip gw>ls/ds > n*

if you need IPO clients/ phones ..then bcm is the nortel small business solution

The Norstar IP gateway is a switch to switch gateway for IP trunking.
It's only application is to provide a private dialling plan for site to site toll bypass.
It is not a converged application.
Invest in a BCM and wait for 3.6 to become GA.

if you order a bcm now ...it is a 3.6 ..they send u a 3.5 and a free pgrade to 3.6

I would still wait for 3.6 GA late May.
Upgrades do not always go smoothly.
It wouldn't hurt to wait a month.
