I have a number of Partner ACS systems and was wondering if anyone is using the voice over DSL option. I can get SDSL at three locations and was wondering if this ACTUALLY works.
They don't offer SDSL here but I have been in contact with other techs in areas that do have it and they say it works well. Maybe one of them will chime in and give you a little more info.
You must have R5 or above software on your system.
broadview networks offers this (in theory) - i dont think they have any rolled out though - they have a gateway to the PSTN so calls can go from the customer site to non VoDSL customers
The 1600DSL mod was one of Avaya big marketing/design failures - in my opinion. While the 1600 DSK mod does work slick ... they were counting on VODSL to take off back in 2001 when they were designing it. The problem occured when only a limited # of network providers decided to invest the millions of dollars in upgrading the DSL CO switch equipment to provide for uniform VODSL. I don't think it will ever be a viable solution as T-1s are so cheap in most metro areas - VODSL will never be available outside of a few major metro areas anyway. VOIP is the future but Avaya will probably never have it available for the Partner system as they want you to move up to Magix or to IP Office for larger CO line/station configurations.
