Perryp the VMI's are discontinued but still supported in software they are essentially an ATA with disconnect supervision support. They also support feature 1 to light MWI lights for third party mail.
9*3 VOICE MAIL INTERFACE (VMI) CODES
Each VMI has two analog ports therefore two DN's.
You must daisy chain your CFNA and CFB settings to each DN sequentially and end the chain by pointing to the primary DN.
I wish I could help by providing official documentation but it has been some time since I have seen a VMI.
Feature 9*3 will provide a list of required codes for additional programming.
just curious as to what voicemail u are going to be using ...
there is a good installation note from the avaya website (support.avaya.com) for integrating an octel to the norstar.
(unfortunately i dont have that note with me now ...
VODAVI DISPATCH, THERE IS A 4.1 NAM THERE NOW. THE PROBLEM IS THE NEVER FULL FROM EXTERNAL CALLS. THE CUSTOMER WE HAVE HAS A USER PROBLEM, NO ONE WANTS TO CHECK THE GENERAL DELIVERY MAIL BOX. WE WANT TO GIVE THEM A MAILBOX FULL MESSAGE WHEN IT'S FULL, NOT TO KEEP TAKING MESSAGES
The Vodavi Dispatch tech manual has several systems listed in the back with the instructions on how to interface with the VM. I know that they have either 3 or 4 auto-configs for Nortel which steps you through the hardware required and the programming instrucitons. Take a look at that and it should help you. Good Luck!
