I have voice mail provided from BellSouth my phone company. I there a way I can have my norstar system to notify me when there are messages in my box? The only reason I ask is I see VMsg in my Call Services in the programing menus. What are these setting for? I have a 8X24 system with DR5.1

Yes. Norstar can be set up to notify. The notification will show as MSG in the screen of the pbone programmed.
Set up as follows:
enter config programming;
Next to call services;
show
Autolog
show
next to external voice message
define set to give notification
next
heading to call services
show
next to voice message tel numbers
show
enter auto dial for Telco services
next
Heading
next to voice message center lines
show
set voice msg center usage per line.
next
release.

Sorry if I've missed something. I don't have a DR5 here to test with.

You will also have to have SBC give you visual message waiting (aka CLASS) You will also have to have a Caller ID trunk card for that line since CLASS comes across as a caller ID type FSK signal and Caller ID cards can read that. JerryReeve

Thanks for adding that. All Telcos are not created equal. Ous puts visual call waiting on automaitically without CLID.
