Some collected questions that I have always wondered about:

1. On the StarTalk Flash, is there any way to dial in and change the AA Menu prompt in case of bad weather, for example? Currently, I have customers either change the Gen.Delivery mailbox to reflect office closings or have a special mailbox for that purpose only.

2. I have to switch a StarTalk (non-Flash) for a NAM on an 8x24 DR-5. The NAM is used and I can't find my NAM installation guide. Can anyone provide the basic setup instructions for the NAM? I think it is an early version, there is no NIC, and it is not Fiber. There is an A and B serial jack on the bottom, though. Are these for connecting with a laptop for programming.

3. There isn't any way of having 2 mailboxes on 1 set, is there? Just checking, because I usually assign the GD mailbox to the operator and tell her(him) that they can't have a personal mailbox.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Randy

I don't have any info on the last two questions, but I'm afraid you can't call in and change the AA setup (inclement weather messages, etc). Boy, I wish you could.

Hope that helps,
Dan

Randall,
One way your flash changes could be made is to put your AA info into the greetings, and prerecord the greetings to reflect what you want, then use Norstar Remote unitilities to change the greetings of the AA. I think there is another way suggested by MRoberts but it eludes me just now. Did a quick look for the posts .... I'll look later.

Your NAM I connects to laptop as you see and the manger program is resident in the NAM OS. Post your Email and I'll send you a .pdf on it.

You can't have two mailboxes on one phone.

Cheers

On Flash you cannot do remoteadmin without NRU, On the NAM there is a way to change the greetings remotely though.

on q3 also no you cannot get multi mailboxes on one phone since there would be no way to ID what mbox has the MSG indicator.

Thanks all.

Jerry, I believe it is a NAM 1. I have only ever worked on NAM with Fiber connectors and this one has copper RJ-11 plugs. I am assuming that the principle is the same as with FlashTalk--2 ports of VM per station port.

Sorry, I do not have the install guide for NAM1 so I won't be able to send you the info. I think you are correct about only having to connect DN's to the input card. I will defer to someone who remembers connecting up a NAM1 though. JerryReeve

Jerryreeve,
You got it. Sets up just like a NAMII except the laptop part and the copper DS30 part. Duck Soup. In some ways the old NAM I was the better machine.

Can anyone guide me on accessing a NAM1 ? I have tried to connect to a laptop via com1 , Hyperterminal , NAM port A , using a null modem serial cable but so far I'm not seeing anything on the screen .
Any suggestions ?

Thanks

I don't believe there is a serial port on a NAM 1. You are probably mistaking the parrallel port for a serial

randall5,
Check out this FAQ. Have done it several times and it works great. One Extension, Two Mailboxes. It's in the FAQ section of the site under Basic Voice Mail programming.
