I'm in charge of this ancient pbx system we have in our building, it runs ok most of the time, but recently a problem started where the voice mail can no longer be checked by dailing 2000 from phones. If I reset the machine it will come back up, but after about a day and half it will stop picking up again.

I followed the instructions from the systems management guide we have for the system, created an error report, the error is the same one over and over again:

M66-1 E7-255 D263

Obviously if I had access to what these codes mean I wouldn't need to post this message. The phone system is a PBX 2000 and we have a copy of Matworks on a machine connected via a serial connection.

Does anyone know what this error could mean?

watchdog error. either the watchdog timer went off if ecode !=999, or manually failed with ctrl-F3 ecode ==999. Could be a timing problem or a failing board.

This is straight from the active voice document. There is no further explanation.

I agree with Belevedere.

However I have seen the M66 code before. If you shut down the voice mail, reseat the dialogic cards (do them one at a time) you may stop this issue

The dialogic cards are inside the dell optiplex right?

What does the watchdog do exactly? I've been trying to google it, from what I could gather it's an internal hardware timer that is used to decide whether or not an application / hardware task has failed? Is that what it does or am I completely off base?

Thanks for your help too, we ordered some replacement cards from ebay just in case. I plan to reseat the pci cards and clean the pins a bit.
