I know that this isn't the direct forum to pose a question on Octel, but here's a link to a post I made today --> thread923-769040 Any of y'all experts have any similar experiences or suggestions? This is my first time trying to salvage this particular version and I'm at an impasse.

Any help would be appreciated!

you are correct in noting you need a octel signed board in order to fix the problem. Not a lot of people doing Octel anymore. It was kind of run into the ground by Lucent.

If you can't find another board, there is the option of installing the software of another voice mail system or just replacing it with another. We have several options for you. email me: email at ghostin dot com is the address. I can give you more info

We are back to normal. The Rhetorex 432 board I received had the Octel bit signature so it was recognized by the voice mail software. Gotta love locked-in proprietary mechanisms :)

So for a little over $800 I had a production PC and a spare PC with 2 year warranties. And for $1500 I have a 432 board with a 1 year warranty. That should give us piece of mind continuing along with a legacy product. The rich feature set of the Octel 50 series has our users spoiled and it wasn't an attractive solution to suggest abandoning the platform. If we wanted to keep such features with newer systems we would have to shell out a lot more than $2300 for unlimited mailboxes and up to 32 ports!
