I am doing a new install and have a 2 port VM card and I can't log in as the administrator by dialing 777. Also when setting the 2 ports on the card to an extension is it best to set them to ext 10 and 11?

My customer wants the auto attendant to answer on eves and weekends only, during the day they do not want the auto attendant at all, is that possible?

Ports for the VM Card are 78 and 79.

Voice Mailboxes can be on any valid extension.

Assign 78 and 79 to Hunt Group 7 so that 777 will take you to VM.

Assign the Lines to be answered to Group Call Dist-7.

Set the VMS Hunt Schedule to Night Only and be sure to put a Night Service Button on Ext. 10.

From Ext 10 or 11:

FEATURE 00, left Intercom Twice
#505-7-78-1
#505-7-79-1
#306-78-10
#306-79-10
#206-7-XX-1 (Where XX is the Line number; do this for each line assigned to the Auto Attendant)
#507-XX-3 (Where XX is the Line number; do this for each line assigned to the Auto Attendant)
#503-3-Press a Button with a light where you want the Night Service Button to appear on Ext. 10
#310-XX-1 (Where XX is the Extension Number that will be getting a Mailbox; do this for each Mailbox)

Thanks, this is only my second time programming a Partner so the help is appreciated.

I followed all the steps you suggested and the following is occuring

When a call comes in from the outside 2 line buttons light up then it seems to transfer to the first line. The only phone that rings is ext 10, the other extensions flash but do not ring.

I still can not log into the VMS by dialing 777, it just rings.

Does it make a difference what slot the VM module is in, we have it in five.

Yes it matters. The VM card goes into the slot next to the last station card. Here's a couple examples.
Slot 1 Slot 2 Slot 3 Slot 4 Slot 5
St St Proc Vm open
St Vm Proc open open
St St Proc St Vm

Kinda hard to explain, does that make sense? Matt Wray

Ok, that is correct. From experience, the probs you are having sound like VM gremlins.. Ok, just reread Tommy's post and he told you the wrong VM ports. To figure out which ones you need bear with me. Go to the last station port(slot 4), and find out what the last extension is ie 28 or whatever. Here's where it gets tricky.. The VM card is 6 logical ports. Count those ports and the last 2 are the ones you need. Here's an example: Slot 4 last port is 25, so VM is 26,27,28,29,30,31. You have a 2 port VM, in this scenario you VM ports would be 30 and 31. Now you can refer back to Tommy's post, just change out the 78,79 for your VM ports.. He thought you had a PC card, not a true VM circuit card. Let us know if this helps! Matt Wray

OK, my bad. When you wrote that you had a 2 port VM card, I read it as what we refer to as "card mail", as opposed to VS Mail. Matt is right, after you determine your VM ports, substitute them for 78 and 79 above.

But also do this:

#505-7-78-2
#505-7-79-2

otherwise, you will still have 78 and 79 in the VMS hunt group, and every third call will take 8 rings before it gets answered (among other wierd problems)

I assigned the VM ports to next 2 available extensions and it worked. I originally assigned it to the 5th and 6th virtual ports but it did not work. Thanks for putting me on the right track. Avaya documentation is poor.
