Could someone please tell me the proper way to set up a voice mail pro server? I keep installing the client software for some reason and all I want is a basic voice mail box with no SMTP interaction.

Thanks

I am no expert. Brand new actually.

But I just did this from scratch and got it working without problems. the voicemail is on its own box. I had to look up the voice mail server IP address in IP office so I could set the IP on the voice mail server.

Then I installed the VMP software. Once installed I had to go to the Admin>Systen Prefs and change the default telephony device to IP office (in my case).

Once that was done, I had basic voice mail for all the phones.

Wish I could be more help. Feel free to ask and I will share my results.

there are 2 types of voicemail. Voicemail pro which is on a seperate cd is controlled by a liscense file. the voicemail light is free and is included on the admin cd.

you can leave the smtp settings blank and after it errors out the voicemail will work fine.

Thanks for the information, it was that SMTP error that had me kind of freaked out. I'm doing my first one and it's for a remote site and I was a little leary of sending it out with errors.
