Hi Everyone,

I've been asked to develop a password usage policy regarding the voice mail system. We're a hospital and have approximately 900 subscriber accounts in three Intuity Audix systems and one Modular Messaging system.

We currently require a 4-digit password with the usual Avaya built-in restrictions. Aging is turned off. The rumor is that Administration wants 5-digits with mandatory aging.

I'd be grateful if anyone would share their policy or acceptable usage terms. Doesn't matter if you're a hospital or not, any ammunition that I can gather against anything too restrictive would be helpful. Thanks in advance for your help.

Just one more passwrod to have to remember unless you change it at the same time you change all of your other passwords that the Banks, Credit Card companies, Insurance copanies, Network folks, and just about every other Joe Company comes up with for each and every system/program that they allow you to log into. Our company has a 5 digit password (no aging) and if someone forgets or locks themselves out, we reset it with the 4 digit year and force them to change upon login. Unless there is a lot of proprietary information and cut throat competition going on that users want to steal other users voicemail we just don't see a need to have to change your password every 30, 60, or 90 days. Just my opinion for what it is worth.
