I have a client with an ACS R6.0 and a Partner Voice Mail VS R4.0. I have set up a calling group *71 with six extensions in the group. A caller is dropped into this group from Auto Attendant, I know that these six extensions cannot receive voice mail messages when their Do Not Disturb button is activated. Is their a way to overcome this. The six extensions would like to receive voice mail messages. Would a VMS cover work?

Why can't an extension in DND receive a voice mail message?

Yes, for every extension that has a mailbox, you should turn on Auto VMS Coverage.

If you want to have voice mail coverage for the group, create mailbox 71, and set the Transfer Return Extensions for the voice mail ports to themselves, and the group calls will be covered by mailbox 71.

You can then phantom the incoming messages to another mailbox so that there will be a MW light to remind them to check it.

Thank you TouchToneTommy,

I meant a VMS Cover button (Feature 15) to be able to turn VM on and off.

When you say create mailbox 71, do you mean as a phantom/guest mailbox?

And do I put mailbox 71 in the Calling Group?

I don't understand 'phantom the incoming messages to another mailbox' It would have to have an extension to see the MW light.

OK, I apologize, I misread the part that your voice mail is a VS - NOT Partner Messaging which was in my mind.

So, disregard that part about making mailbox 71, and about phantom destination.

So, yes, you can put a F-15 button on the phones to toggle off their VM coverage. That of course only applies to transfers directly to their extension numbers, not the group.

But what is the specific situation you're trying to create?

The company has a sales group. I set up a group *71 that is transferred by Auto Attendant. The caller is given the opportunity to dial 2 for sales. At this point the caller is transferred into the sales group. Their are six sales people in the group. The call bounces around like it is suppose to until one of the sales people answers the call. If a sales person wants to go to the bathroom, lunch or home I have them turn on DND to take themselves out of the loop. At night they all activate their DND, sending the caller to Extension 10, receptionist. The sales team would like to receive voice mail messages if a caller dials their extension direct instead of being sent into the calling group, i.e. spouse, friend, etc.

Then, yes, just assign Auto VMS Coverage to each of the extensions that have mailboxes. Calls to the group will not cover to anyone's mailbox, because it is the group that is ringing. Calls directly to the 2-digit extension number will ring just that one extension, and then cover to voice mail. Pressing DND will prevent them from ringing for the Group calls, and direct calls will go to VM right away.
