Hello forum.

Yesterday I installed NRU 9.0. And I was successful to connect to the system and change properties here and there, and even resolve one issue.

The only thing that I couldn't do is to connect and manage voice mail with Norstar Voice Mail manager(3 or 4).

The setup that I have here is:
1. PC connected to the office network.
2. FastRAD connected to serial port of PC.
3. Phone system.

As you see I do not have Voice Mail block connected to the network at all.

And that seems to be a problem since I do not know how to get connected to the Voice Mail without specifying its IP address.

Can you please explain me how to do that?

Thanks in advance for your input,

Yuri.

Yuri,
You can program the voice mail from the set emulation screen. Or if you have a NAM on site you need to set up an ATA2 or other analog access (such as a fax switch) for the internal modem. Then you can dial in. I have wondered if you can do this with a Flash and a modem with Procom too?? But with a NAM and a NIC you can go in via the WAN/LAN if you have one set up that way. NRU or Norstar Mangler won't do a GUI for voice mail.

You know - it just stroke me - can I set up the second NIC card and connect NAM (Norstar Application Module) with pc that has Voice Manager installed directly?

Thanks,
Yuri

Yuri,
Don't know that you need two NICs for the purpose. You have a NAM (Norstar Applications Module) with a NIC? And yes your basic premise is correct.

I have a card that has connector for keyboard, mouse, monitor and additional connector that looks like Network connector.
So I can try to use it to get connected to the system.

By the way how can I change the IP addres of NAM

Thanks,
Yuri.

Yuri,
Make sure when you are doing the pretzel while looking at the connections under the NAM you are not mistaking the modem for a NIC. You will need a video card if you want to use the key board and mouse. - then you'll need an monitor too. Post your Email address and I'll send you the how to on setting up your NIC NAM (paddy wac). Changing the IP in the OS2 is not something that I can tell you about or have the info for. There is a NIC set up utility I'll send as well. It's been a couple of years since I test benched the NAM this way and have no current customers who wanted or cared about network NAM administration.

Yeah, the Software for changing the IP address is called NAM IP LITE, be prepared to power the system down a couple times for it though. If you look down a few threads, you'll see one that I started regarding changing the IP address with the keyboard and monitor and Curlycord put the steps needed to do it this way. I hope you have better luck than I do, Cause the one I've been working on is real stubborn and won't take the IP address. I've done this quite a fw times and this is the only one I've had a problem with so you should not have a problem.

Good Luck

It works.

The card that I have in NAM has the simple NIC port so I could connect it to the pc using cross cable and secondary NIC.
Then you specify the address of the secondary nic to be 192.168.110.11 and I could establish private connection between two.

Thanks for your input...

Yuri.
