We have had several phones that the Voice Mail light just stops working. The light still works when the phone rings, but not for Voice mail. The message screen also does not show that there is a message waiting. The solution has been to move the phone to a different TN.

Today, we tried to move the phone to a different TN and then back to the original TN. The Voice mail light would work some and then quit. The message screen would show "Message Waiting" and then it would go away.

Are the ports bad? The bad ones are starting add up. Perhaps we should change the cards.

Thanks for any info.

Sorry about that.

Nortel Meridian Switch Version

AASTRA analog phone 9316 CW (but same problem with other analog phones)

Call Pilot Voice Mail Version 4.04.04.03

The problem is not in a single card, but does seem to be confined to a Superloop. It only appears on analog phones.

4-0-9-15
4-0-8-11
4-0-12-11

Are now all bad.

Could be a power supply issue in shelf 4-0. Do you have any in another shelf that work?

We have 4 other shelves. I do not see where we have had this problem with them.

and, are they all analog message waiting line cards??
ANA MWC, or post a NT8DXX XX for us

Sounds likek the card you are using does not support the message light. Do you get a stutter dial tone by chance?

Setup MCK and MIK keys on your phone and see if you can light them manually.

Sounds like the Power Supply on the shelf is bad.

Check your history files and see if you notice any XSM errors, or go to LD 37 and '.STAT XSM'

These ports were working correctly before.
Since they are on the same superloop, I am leaning toward a bad power supply.

I have seen power supplies give really funny and difficult to trouble shoot problems in PLCs before.

Thanks

There not hard to trouble shoot at all, either replace it with a known good PS or just swap 2 PS in the system and see if the problem follows the PS to the new Shelf.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.
