I am at a site that is having unusual voice mail problems (one of the ports rings busy, when you transfer to a phone that is in DND it gives the 'transferring to recept' message repeatedly, and when I try and do 99# and either the customer's password or the Avaya password it gives an error message saying "you cannot get your messages now due to multiple login attempts - goodbye" and then disconnects you. I can't even get in to do any type of clear because it won't let me. I am going to reboot the system when everyone is off and see if that makes a difference - if not, does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Power cycle the system to release the multiple logins.

If you have an ACS R7 or R8, and a VSR5 earlier than (I don't remember the release off the top of my head), extensions in DND will not cover to voicemail when a call is tranferred from the AA. They will instead hit the Transferring to Receptionist message, especially frustrating if the receptionist also puts the phone in DND, the calls will bounce around forever.

I power cycled the phone and it worked for a while, then started again. I did a voice mail reset and it seemed to clear it, but it may only be a matter of time before it starts again.

They have an ACS R6. It was working fine until a few weeks ago. I replaced a 206 board with a 308, but I don't think the problem started that day - it was about a week later. We have had a couple of wicked storms lately and I am wondering if a power outage could have started this.

I guess I am lucky in that I have never had the DND problem before. My temporary fix was to shorten the number of rings before the phone covers to voice mail and then told everyone not to use DND until I could figure something out. Is there any change that resetting the voice mail to factory default would fix it?

All the more reason to have proper grounding/bonding and surge protection.

The only way to fix the DND issue between a Partner Mail VS R5 and Partner ACS R7 & R8 processors is to load a patch into the voicemail.

When you swapped the 308 for the 206, did you reprogram the voicemail port extensions in #505-7? You may have missed one, thus the "Transferring to Receptionist

Yes, we have the correct ports. And it only happens when the phones are in DND... I am curious if the above-mentioned patch could help with an R6? Or if the issue was identified with R6?

An unpatched R5 PMVS shouldn't have any problems interacting with an R6 processor.
