I am trying to install the 8 Port DLI Logger:

On a Nortel with 7310's. This logger is great. I install them on Partner's all the time. This is an easyt use logger for clients that need inexpensive voice logging.

The problem is that the Partner sets have a tip and ring I can monitor but the Nortel 7310's do not. Unless I doing somethign wrong when I place my test set on the block for that ext. I do not hear conversation I get battery only.

So therefore I have nothing to monitor. DLI told me to "monitor the handset".

Does anyone have any experience connecting this type of voice logger device to the 7310's? I am at a loss to figure out a soloution for the DLI-8000.

Any work arounds would be helpful.

Thanks

What you might be monitoring is the 2nd analog pair from the KSU on the partner as 1st pair is digital.
Norstar is all digital, if analog is need you need A.T.A.'s. to convert the digital to analog.

If I use an ATA how can I attach this to an 7310? This client wants to monitor the actual agents ext. and not all the incomming lines.

ANy suggestion for wiring?

Thanks!

An ata converts a digital extension to analog. Per extension, it's either one or the other- a digital set OR an ATA. No combinations.

I'm suprised dli couldn't offer you a digital solution comatible with Norstars.

I have used them on Partner just fine but they do not make it clear wha happens when used on a digital set.

Is there anyway to tap the block or at any point along the wiring were I can place my test set and hear the conversation at an ext.?

Regarding the analog soloution. This means that I need to place an ATA before each ext? What is the wiring for each set and will the 7310 work and display as it normally does?

The other issue is that this client has a BRI and so I can not attach the DLI to monitor each port unless I can intercept each trunk at some point along the line and pick up dial tone.

as far as monitoring the handset, what would be the best way to wire from the handset to the DLI Logger COntrol Unit?

Forgot to mention I installed something like you have but I installed it direct to the C.O. lines and not the sets.

delos111-

I guess I wasn't very clear. Nortel sets are digital, period. ATA's do convert an extension to analog, but there is no way to use that in conjunction with a digital set, and there is no way to "couple" them.

There really is no analog solution to tap a digital set, unless you are able to find a separate device (try Mike the Sandman online.) to plug into the handset jack.

i will look at Algo they say the are Nortel compatible. Do you have the pricing for an Algo 8 port. The DLI is very cheap and easy to use. Only a few hundred dollars for the 8 port.
