I am finding it difficult to change the name on the display on each individual phone in the system.

I dial 690 to adjust the name in the display from STA 100 (etc) to the station attendants name, and go to use the numeric coding for lettering (21=A 22=B 23=C) and the auto update in the display shows the numbers instead of lettering.

I am wondering if I am supposed to punch in all the numbers, accept the new display name as numbers, then will it update to the name chosen after accepting the new station name? Or is the display supposed to auto update when you are punching in the numbers?

Thanks in advance.

I think that each character will display as alpha as you complete each two-letter code. What does the manual say? This is an unusual stumbling block...

The manual said to access the terminal you want the display name changed on, then dial 690. After dialing 690, the display then shows the phrase "ENTER NAME," after which I am to program the display name using the number code listed above (A=21 B=22 C=23).

For Example: If I wanted to display the name AARON, the number code would read: 2121726362, then I am to press SPEED to save entry.

It is only an assumption that the display should auto update based on my experience programming the directory which is why I was asking whether or not it should. When I go to program in the code, the display just reads: 2121726362 and does not display Alphas as I am assuming it should, while I am inputting the numbers for the aplphas.

On a semi-ironic note, when I hit the TRANS key, the display shows an "S" and when I hit FLASH, the display name shows an "F" on the display.

Well, you're correct. My manual matches yours. So, when you enter it all, and press SPEED to save, then call that station from another, do you see a name?
