We have set up a new virtual NuPoint and all is working except when user tries to set up mail box they get the tutorial prompts but can not change passcode no matter how many digits we attempt to use even though it is meant to be between 4 - 10 digits. we enter digits and after a short silence the prompt returns to say press 8 for user settings, any help i would appreciate.

Programmed "local networks" in the server manager correctly?

I have heard of this issue from another source. In that case, all other functions work OK. The system responds normally to digits, it just does not respond to changing the passcode (During tutorial in the other case). I haven't invested much effort in helping to troubleshoot the other site but your syptoms lead me to believe there might be something wrong in the latest release.

Time to call Mitel Methinks.

I would agree with Bigsin this sounds like a one way audio issue.
So it is not 'hearing' the DTMF
If the local networks are added it might just resolve this.

In my other case it is definitely not one way audio. Both systems reside in the same subnet as well as the phones. Symptom only affects passcode. User can record greetings and names but not change passcode. The fact that MitelMark says the system responds with silence and then Press 8 for user options leads me to believe that the user has already entered then mailbox and as such the mailbox has accepted digits via the initial passcode.

MitelMark - Please confirm that only changing the passcode is affected.

When you say virutal Nupoint are you speaking of Nupoint in vMAS or Nupoint installed as a seperate virtual machine? Just curious, nothing else to contribute.

The single biggest problem with communications is the illusion that it has taken place.

Hi, it is NuPoint on vMAS, and yes the only thing that is not possible is changing passcode, the system reconises DTMF as you can press 8, etc and if you leave a message in the mailbox you can retreive and delete using DTMF.

Looks like we have a reason.

How did you add your users? Looks like if you import them directly without using the user and services tab you will get this issue. Can you confirm?

Hi all, I can confirm if you enter the user via the Users and Services portal all works correctly not how I did originally by entering via NuPoint portal, thanks for all help

Found this out as well. If you need to import do it via the config wiz for the MAS. Importing directly to the Nupoint interface results in this issue.

Article Title
MAS 2.2 Import Disallows NuPoint Users to Change Mbox Passcodes

Publish Date
Jan-24-2011

Body/Solutions
New installs of MAS 2.2 who use import to populate the MAS database will find that after doing so, NuPoint mailbox users are unable to change their passcode from default to anything else. This same symptom will also be seen if NuPoint mailboxes are created within NuPoint rather than via MAS Users and Services.
If import was used, then the MAS account for the affected users must be deleted and recreated in MAS.
If the issue arose because the mailbox was created outside of MAS, then create a user account in MAS, and normal functionality will be restored.
Mitel is working on a solution for the importing of users into MAS 2.2.
