I'm a Linux newbie and I can't seem to get VNC or TightVNC to work as a server on my Linux box. It appears to be running, but I can't remote into it from my Win2K box.

I've tried running the Win2K box in listen mode and initiating it from the Linux box, but that won't work either.

I can ping from one machine to the other by IP address or computer name.

I can't connect from the Win2K side as server either.

Any thoughts/ideas/help???

Thanks!

Normally on a Win PC you should have a WinVNC Icon visible on your taskbar. That tells you that the server is running even if you have selected the run as a service option:

Start>Programs>VNC>Administration>

Install VNC Service, and
Run Service Helper.

I have found that the server initialization is not automatic without having run 'Service Helper' after first installing the VNC service.

u will also need 2 have an active client (install) on the nodes u want 2 control. (server service on self)
