I have an Opt. 81C with a VMX200 (Avaya) voicemail system. I then have a Norstar MICS tied to the 81c using PRI. In the VMX200 voicemail if I call into the auto-attendant and enter a 4-digit DN being CDP'd to the Norstar - it will ring once and disconnect.

I can call the extensions on the Norstar from the 81c and even tranfer calls, but the voicemail will not. Any ideas what to look at?

You could try and change the way the VMX200 transfers calls so that it delays more before releasing the call. You could check in the Opt. 81C to make sure that you are allowing Trunk to Trunk transfers from the voicemail extensions. You could also hook up a physical phone from one of the voicemail ports and manually do a transfer to a Norstar extension to verify that it will work. If it does then you know that you will have change how the VMX200 transfers.

I have seen this issue with other systems and the 200 is there a trunk accsess code you could dial pre extion of the remote extions? a stearing digit? that has worked for me in the past.

Can you explain how to find the trunk access code in the 200 system? I am fairly new to the VMX and need a bit more detail.

The trunk access code would be in the Option 81C, if any. I think the point is whether you can get calls to the remote extensions by some means other than just dialing the extension number, like a trunk access code for a TIE line between the Option 81C and the Norstar or some other "steering" digit that points to the Norstar extensions.

This sounds like a trunk timer that has not expired and when the Octel drops out of the call the Nortel disconnects as it thinks it is not valid. You may want to try putting a # at the end of the transfer string to tell the Nortel to let the call go.

Have you gotten this resolved? just a few Q? is MWI working on the remote Norstar phones? Do you have VMI's on the Norstar? and what cards do you have in the 200 to the integrate with the 81?

No, I haven't resolved it. I have been playing with a few timers with no success. The Norstar has its own NVM4.0 voicemail, so remote MWI is not set.

The VMX has the following cards and integrates by M2616 telephones.
(4) 300-6032-001 - Slots A1-A4
(1) 300-6040-001 - Slot A5
(1) 300-6001-004 - slot A8
(1) 300-6039-004 - slot A9

In the Octel 200 it is possible to run a trace that shows exactly the information that the Octel is receiving and sending. This trace can be run in real time or there is a buffer that contains some history.

from the @ prompt:
@L T

Jon

On the cards in the Octel near the top and on the left side is a tag that will say "MIC" or "SLIC" or another word this will identify the cards I don't have the Avaya part numbers close at hand.
I would run the trace as suggested by jon, maybe set it up for just 1 port then call that port directly and capture the Octel trying to transfer. at the @ L T enter then you'll have a list of options choose I think it's 3 a port enter the number of the port you wish to trace, and you can go from there.
How are your two switches tied together? who's PRI?
I would also look at the programming of the ports for the Octel inside the 81C alot of times the switch tech will dissable those ports from being able to call out, toll fraud prevention.
Good luck, if it still doesn't work please post the trace.
