Is there a listing of alarms for the VMX200 system available? I have the following alarms and would like to find out what they are... I believe type 24's are integration issues?

On the documentation CD volume 4 is the Installation and Maintenance section. Chapter 8 is system errors. Type 24 errors are integration errors.

We inherited the system, and I can not find any cd documentation from the previous Telecom Admin. Is the info available online anywhere?

Hi jamie2

Your VMX-200 has some integration problem with respect to the interconnected PBX.
Please post the @l f here.
What type of PBX do you use?
The error type 24 says that there is a datalink fault when calling to the voice mail group hunt number.
Then the data packet - running "parallel" with the call to the analogue/digital port - either is delayed or missing - or even comes too early.
I have been working with the VMX systems for 13 years now and also the Ericsson MD110 pbx.
The settings for datalink inthe PBX and in the VMX must match, otherwise you will get these TYPE=24 errors.
The datalink cable (Serial/RS-232/V24 could also have been damaged or disconnected).
Let me know what you find out!

Just want to add some more info:

The error code is seen in SLOT=5 (fifth SLOT from left).
On this board the problem deals with Channel 01.
Maybe you can find out what board is installed in SLOT=5?
From the print-out it seem to be a Nortel Meridian PBX, you are using???

Thanks for replying DOk... You are correct, the VMX is connected to a Option 81C (for a year) and before that it was connected to an SL1.

I am out of the office until Dec. 30th, so I will not be able to check on the card until then, but when I get back I will post the card description. The system is integrated with multiple 2616's.

Hi Jamie2

With the SL1/Option 81C from Nortel Meridian, you are maybe using the SIC-8 (Serial Integration Card).
The number of 2616's are connected through theirs data module to the SIC-8. The 2616's + datamodules and the SIC-8 perform the "data channel".
We often see a lot of TYPE=24 on these installations!

You can try this command:

@l i 5 1
********** INTEGRATION STATUS **********

CARD TYPE = SIC-8
UNIT STATUS = UNIT UP
DIAGNOSTIC = OK
LINK 1 STATUS = IDLE
LINK 2 STATUS = IDLE
PEGS:

LINK 1 = 40 0 255 0 156 255 2 3 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0

Hi again

This is the correct link:

The Serial Interface Controller 8 (SIC8) controls from 2 to 8 digital telephones connected to the PBX, depending upon the number of digital appearances required. Single-line circuits for the voice path appear on the digital sets of the M2616 sets. When a call is received it simultaneously rings at a single-line circuit and the M2616 appearance. The SIC8 commands the M2616 to read the call information from the display and transmit it to the Octel system which then answers with the appropriate personal greeting. At least one of the M2616 sets performs message-waiting notification.
