hello,
I am looking at building a colocation / disasster recovery site. in my original site i have 9 servers.
2 biztalk 2k4, 4 sql, 1 biztalk 2k2, 1 iis, and 1 AD.
I am looking at building a colo with 3 servers, using virutalization, admintingly i am not a guru on this subject, I am wondering the recommendations of VMWARE VS. MS Virtual Server.

quite simple. for DR, go with the VMWare product, ESX Server. Do not go for the MS product, or VMWare Serevr, as both of these require a host OS like windows, before you can run them.

in other words, it'll go something like this:

Host OS -> VMWare server or MS Virtual -> Virtual Machines

ESX looks like this:

ESX Server -> Virtual Machines

Far more efficient. Get a demo of ESX and try it out. Its really rather good.

You will first need to ensure that your servers can be virtualized before you can determine if VMWare is right for this solution. For example, if your SQL servers are running at around 50% CPU today, you can pretty much count that each one of those server would need to be split up on seperate VM servers to keep CPU and Memory load to a minimum without affecting overall performance.
