VMware suspended virtual machine state file missing

Need some help to recover the VMware suspended virtual machine state file for a virtual server. Anyway I can do that while still retain the original VMware configuration file? Thanks

What happened to it? I ask because we just deployed ESX server about 3 weeks ago and I like to keep an eye out for potential problems.
