I have Ubuntu running through the free VMware player on a WinXP host. Ubuntu has Apache running so that I can access files via within the virtual system. Is there a way that the host OS can access the HTTP server on the virtual system?

It should have been easy but I was looking in the wrong place to find the IP address of the VM. Everything I saw (before looking a step further) was simply pointing to the useless localhost address of 127.0.0.1

In case someone stumbles on this thread later, I found my Ubuntu IP address by accessing the System menu->Administration->Network Tools->Devices->Network Device->Ethernet Interface
